David was born and raised in Northern Ireland and received his Bachelor of Science from the University of Belfast in 1977 and his Chartered Accountancy designation in Ireland in 1981. He immigrated to Calgary later that year and obtained his Alberta Institute of Chartered Accountants designation in 1985. In 1988, he joined Jayda Rosenthal to form Hamilton & Rosenthal Chartered Professional Accountants, LLP.
David has devoted much of his professional time to the construction industry. He has developed expertise in the many financing and bonding requirements and financial reporting issues unique to this industry. As a result of this expertise, the Firm continues to be sought after by clients of all sizes in the construction industry.
David was elected to the board of directors of the Calgary Construction Association in 1995. He was elected to the position of Secretary Treasurer in 1996, a position which he held until 2015.
Jayda was born and raised in Calgary. She received her Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Calgary in 1979 and articled with Arthur Anderson in Winnipeg and Doane Raymond in Calgary. Jayda received her Chartered Accountancy designation in 1983 and joined David Hamilton to form Hamilton & Rosenthal Chartered Professional Accountants, LLP in 1988.
Jayda is passionate about the success of owner-operated small businesses. She is service oriented and is dedicated to maintaining open and continuous communications with her clients who are in a wide variety of businesses. Her goal is to make the accounting reporting and tax filing functions as informative and enjoyable as possible while taking advantage of all favourable tax planning opportunities.
Jayda has devoted many years to the Institute of Chartered Professional Accountants of Alberta. She has served on the Practice Review Committee and was a Council Member for the Institute of Chartered Accountants Council for four years. She has emceed numerous Institute functions over the years and was an Ambassador for the Institute’s Centennial Year celebrations. She is currently a volunteer on the Institute’s Disciplinary Committee and received a Distinguished Service Award from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta for exemplary service to the profession.
Robert was born and raised in Calgary. He received his Bachelor of Management (Honours) from the University of Lethbridge in 2009 and continued his education by earning a Master of Professional Accounting from the University of Saskatchewan in 2011.
Robert began his articling period with Ernst & Young LLP, Calgary in their audit and assurance department working in the oil and gas, hospitality and manufacturing industries. He joined Hamilton & Rosenthal, Chartered Professional Accountants in 2012 and has continued to focus on audit and assurance engagements with a specific focus in the construction industry. Robert is on the board of directors of the Calgary Construction Association and in the position of Secretary Treasurer.
Robert has always been dedicated to volunteering with various Calgary organizations. He has traveled to third world countries to contribute to community development and is currently active in several local non-profit organizations.
Robert became a partner of Hamilton & Rosenthal, Chartered Professional Accountants LLP in 2015.
Susan was born and raised in Calgary. She has been with Hamilton & Rosenthal Chartered Professional Accountants, LLP since its inception in 1988. She completed her Advanced Certification in Accountancy with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of British Columbia in 1998. She continues her professional development by completing courses with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta, in addition to attending tax-related seminars in the United States.
Susan has years of experience with owner-operated small businesses and has a strong knowledge in the areas of tax planning, accounting software implementation and Canadian and U.S. cross border issues. She manages the firm’s Sundre location and shares her time between the Sundre and Calgary offices.
As a proud Albertan and Calgarian, Susan has spent many years volunteering in the community and not-for-profit organizations. She was a director for Sundre Arts Centre for 15 years and continues to be a strong supporter of the arts, theatre and the Calgary Stampede.
Rachel was born and raised in mainland China and is trilingual in Mandarin, Cantonese and English. She came to Calgary as an international student and earned her Bachelor of Business Administration – Accounting from the Mount Royal University in 2012.
After working for a few years in a smaller local firm, Rachel joined Hamilton & Rosenthal Chartered Professional Accountants, LLP in 2014. She has a high level of expertise with a multitude of accounting software programs and has expanded the Firms ability to help with client accounting software implementation and maintenance.
In 2016, Rachel successfully obtained her C.P.A / C.G.A. Designation and is currently completing the challenging 3 years “In-Depth Tax Program” with C.P.A. Canada.
Rachel enjoys music, singing and cooking…but mostly taxes.
Rachel became a partner of Hamilton & Rosenthal Chartered Accountants, LLP on January 1, 2018.
Tala was born and raised in Calgary. She is currently completing her Bachelor of Business Administration Degree, majoring in Accounting at Mount Royal University, with the goal of attaining her CPA designation.
Tala has been working with the Firm on a part-time basis since she was in high school and has developed a keen eye for detail and organization from working behind the scenes. She currently assists with all aspects of the Firm’s administration and is working as a Student in Training on client bookkeeping and corporate income taxes. She also manages all of the Firm’s social media content via Instagram and Facebook.
Beyond work and University, Tala enjoys spending quality time with family, friends and her Doberman ‘Lincoln’. In addition to playing the piano, singing and craft making, Tala enjoys many aspects of healing and wellness as a licensed Reiki Master.
