David was born and raised in Northern Ireland and received his Bachelor of Science from the University of Belfast in 1977 and his Chartered Accountancy designation in Ireland in 1981. He immigrated to Calgary later that year and obtained his Alberta Institute of Chartered Accountants designation in 1985. In 1988, he joined Jayda Rosenthal to form Hamilton & Rosenthal Chartered Professional Accountants, LLP.
David has devoted much of his professional time to the construction industry. He has developed expertise in the many financing and bonding requirements and financial reporting issues unique to this industry. As a result of this expertise, the Firm continues to be sought after by clients of all sizes in the construction industry.
David was elected to the board of directors of the Calgary Construction Association in 1995. He was elected to the position of Secretary Treasurer in 1996, a position which he held until 2015.
Jayda was born and raised in Calgary. She received her Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Calgary in 1979 and articled with Arthur Anderson in Winnipeg and Doane Raymond in Calgary. Jayda received her Chartered Accountancy designation in 1983 and joined David Hamilton to form Hamilton & Rosenthal Chartered Professional Accountants, LLP in 1988.
Jayda is passionate about the success of owner-operated small businesses. She is service oriented and is dedicated to maintaining open and continuous communications with her clients who are in a wide variety of businesses. Her goal is to make the accounting reporting and tax filing functions as informative and enjoyable as possible while taking advantage of all favourable tax planning opportunities.
Jayda has devoted many years to the Institute of Chartered Professional Accountants of Alberta. She has served on the Practice Review Committee and was a Council Member for the Institute of Chartered Accountants Council for four years. She has emceed numerous Institute functions over the years and was an Ambassador for the Institute’s Centennial Year celebrations. She is currently a volunteer on the Institute’s Disciplinary Committee and received a Distinguished Service Award from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta for exemplary service to the profession.
Susan was born and raised in Calgary. She has been with Hamilton & Rosenthal Chartered Professional Accountants, LLP since its inception in 1988. She completed her Advanced Certification in Accountancy with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of British Columbia in 1998. She continues her professional development by completing courses with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta, in addition to attending tax-related seminars in the United States.
Susan has years of experience with owner-operated small businesses and has a strong knowledge in the areas of tax planning, accounting software implementation and Canadian and U.S. cross border issues. She manages the firm’s Sundre location and shares her time between the Sundre and Calgary offices.
As a proud Albertan and Calgarian, Susan has spent many years volunteering in the community and not-for-profit organizations. She was a director for Sundre Arts Centre for 15 years and continues to be a strong supporter of the arts, theatre and the Calgary Stampede.
Tala was born and raised in Calgary and began working with the Firm while in high school. She continued working during her studies at Mount Royal University, where she earned a Bachelor of Business Administration, majoring in Accounting in 2020. She passed the CFE examination in 2022 and will receive her CPA designation shortly.
Working through various positions at the Firm over the years has afforded her a unique understanding of administration and client care. In addition to having experience in bookkeeping, accounting, and taxation, she has worked with many different types of clients, including restaurants, construction and service companies, real estate companies, investment and holding companies, not-for-profit organizations, proprietorships, and many more. It is Tala's goal to add value to the Firm and its Clients beyond preparing financial information through continuous education, teamwork, and attention to detail.
Beyond work and studies, Tala enjoys spending quality time with family, friends, and her Doberman Pinscher, ‘Lincoln’ - who is an active employee at the Calgary office location. In addition to playing the piano, and singing, Tala enjoys many aspects of fitness, health, and wellness.
Born and raised in British Columbia, Samantha graduated from high school in Drayton Valley, Alberta. Her previous career was in the food service industry which spanned a decade in varying roles up to management. With a thirst for knowledge and ready to embark on an exciting new chapter in her life, Samantha enrolled and graduated with honors in 2021 from Bredin College's Accounting & Payroll Administration Program. She began her career with Hamilton & Rosenthal shortly thereafter.
Samantha has developed her administrative skills and has kept the flow of all sorts of information organized and concise for the firm. She maintains all information in the portal, communicates with current and potential clients, manages invoices and payments, or keeps everyone fed! She has a great ability to multi-task many duties and enjoys having her hands full.
Samantha devotes much of her spare time to caring for her family and home. She also bakes and takes lessons in violin.
